Wedding Picture

Bengta Henriksdotter's first marriage was to Jöns Andersson in Träne parish, Kristianstad County, Sweden. Jöns was born June 21, 1814 and died June 3, 1852 in Sweden. Jöns and Bengta's banns were published on March 9, 16 and 23 in the book of marriage. They were married July 9, 1845. At the time they were married, Jöns Andersson, age 30, was a farmhand and entering tenant at No.16 in Träne, and Bengta Hindriksdotter, age 17, was a maid at No. 16 in Träne.

Bengta Henriksdotter and Jöns Andersson had two daughters: Anna Jonsdotter born July 31,1847 and Karna Jonsdotter born July 15, 1849. Bengta was 19 when Anna was born and 21 when Karna was born. Anna was five years old when her father died and Karna was three.

Karna Jönsdotter went by the names Carrie Anderson and Carrie Malm in America, and prior to her marriage to Charles Reinhold. Carrie's last name in Sweden was Jönsdotter because her father was Jöns Andersson. Jönsdotter means Karna was the daughter of Jöns. No one knows why she choose Carrie as her first name, but her father's last name was Anderson. She may have changed her last name after arriving in the United States since ö is difficult to pronounce in English.

Carrie was 25 years old, single having never been married. She had no children when she immigrated to the United States on August 19, 1874. She married Charles Reinhold six years later. Carrie Anderson worked as a servant in Sweden before immigrating to America. Carrie moved to Venestad in Träne, Sweden where she worked as a servant at a farmer's house in 1864 when she was 14-15 years old, and one year before her mother immigrated to the United States with her second family. Carrie moved to another farm in Venestad in 1868 when she was about 20-21 were she probably worked as a servant. She moved to the parish Åhus, at farm No. 1 in a place called Yngsjö on October 26, 1871.

Bengta (Henriksdottr) Malm had seven children from two marriages. Only five are shown here. One child died in Sweden. I don't have any pictures of John Malm. Bengta Malm and her family history is detailed in Chapter 7, pages 214-304 in The Reinholds A Family With A new Country And A New Name.
